Rocket Routine OS vs. Microsoft 365 Copilot
In short: Microsoft 365 Copilot works inside your Microsoft 365, and Copilot Cowork carries out tasks in Outlook, Teams, Word and other apps after you approve each action. The system you lead your company with, you build and run yourself on top of it. In Rocket Routine OS it is there: yearly plan, goals, meetings and work in one place.
What makes Microsoft 365 Copilot strong
Microsoft 365 Copilot is the paid licence; Copilot Chat comes at no additional cost with an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription. The app is now called Microsoft Copilot. For companies of up to 300 users, Microsoft sells Microsoft 365 Copilot Business as an add-on to the Microsoft 365 plan. Copilot works in the customer's Microsoft 365 tenant, with data from Microsoft Graph, including third-party data, and sees only what the user may see.
Copilot Cowork "can carry out tasks on your behalf": it sends emails, schedules meetings, creates documents, posts in Teams and manages your calendar, on a schedule or when something happens. There are also agents such as Researcher and Analyst, Copilot Studio to build your own agents, and Agent 365 to observe and govern agents across the company.
Governance: where it stands today
Per Microsoft, in Copilot Cowork you approve each action before it happens. Before sensitive actions Cowork pauses and shows a risk level for medium and high risk; users can, however, choose to skip future prompts for similar actions. Cowork is off by default. Copilot inherits sensitivity labels and retention policies, interactions can be audited, and Cowork has an audit log and eDiscovery. Agent 365 keeps a registry of agents with access control. Microsoft does not train foundation models on tenant data, and EU traffic stays within the EU Data Boundary, except web search and, for now, Anthropic models.
What still holds: these rules govern agents, data and access in Microsoft 365. On Microsoft's pages we found no goals, no meeting rhythm, no decision rules for a whole company, and no check of work by a person against a definition of done.
What that costs you in practice
Copilot Chat comes at no additional cost with an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription. In the US, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business costs $18.00 per user a month billed annually, a promotional price (list $21.00), on top of the Microsoft 365 plan. As a bundle, Business Standard with Copilot costs $23.50 and Business Premium with Copilot $32.00 per user a month billed annually. For larger companies, Microsoft 365 Copilot costs $30.00 per user a month billed annually. US prices as shown on Microsoft's US site; in Germany, Copilot Business costs 15.60 euros (list 18.20 euros) excluding VAT. As of 8 November 2026.
Copilot Cowork usage comes on top: it is billed by consumption in Copilot Credits, at $0.01 per credit pay-as-you-go, in addition to the licence.
Tasks in Microsoft 365 and in Rocket Routine OS
What Copilot Cowork does, the AI agents in Rocket Routine OS do too: documents, research, analyses and recurring work like the weekly finance report. They research the web, operate on-screen interfaces in the browser and deliver results you can open and share. They always ask before deleting and before changing the company's direction.
In Rocket Routine OS this work is tied to your company: every task is a work item linked to its area and to the goal or outcome it serves. You set the adoption level for each AI agent, and a person checks work that needs a check against the definition of done before it counts.
Why not just build it yourself with Microsoft 365 Copilot?
If you use Microsoft 365, Copilot is close at hand, and Copilot Studio lets you build your own agents. The system you lead your company with, you then build yourself: goals linked to a plan, a meeting rhythm, decision rights, an adoption level for each AI agent, a person's check against a definition of done, and an AI head for every area, an AI agent that leads it. And you run all of it next to your actual job: you adapt it when something changes and fix it when something breaks.
In Rocket Routine OS, that system is there. You set it up in a chat with the Navigator, in about 20 to 30 minutes. Then the meeting rhythm from Daily to Annual and the AI heads for all ten areas are running. An AI agent acts with exactly the rights of the person who asked, and you set the adoption level for each one. It asks before deleting and before changing the company's direction, and nothing leaves the company without your yes. A person checks work that needs a check against the definition of done.
The AI costs money either way. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business costs from $18 per user a month in the US, plus credits for Cowork. Rocket Routine OS works with your own AI: during set-up you connect your own account as your AI, for example Claude or OpenAI, and from then on your own AI does the work. So the difference lies elsewhere: whether you build and run the system for your company yourself, or whether it is there.
